books

i didn't actually decide to not watch any horror this week, it just happened. maybe its because the walking dead was just SO GOOD and everything paled in comparison. maybe its because like every first week of november for the last 10 years i was a little jumpy. whatever it was, its over. tonight we're going to watch last night's the walking dead, and sometime later this week i'm going to start my new project. working my way through a director, film by film.

but just because i didn't watch any horror this week doesn't mean i was living a horror free life. in the past week i:

last weekend, neil gaiman posted this. give someone a scary book for halloween. i loved the idea. because as much as i love horror movies, i love scary books more.

when i was young, i read everything. absolutely everything. and one of my favorite things to do was steal books off my mom's shelf to read. and she LOVES scary books. there was peter straub, stephen king, true crime and lots more. i would take books, one by one, and read them in bed, in the bathroom, while waiting for the bus, in class when i should've been paying attention. i read things so terrifying i couldn't sleep. the very first one was thinner.  i was 11 and i was hooked.

and so for this all hallow's read, i sent my mom a scary book, because she gave me a love for all things scary.

if you have a scary book you love, and you have the time, stop and pick it up for someone. or order it and have it sent to them. all hallow's read. a made up gift giving holiday i can totally get behind.

here's some of my favorite scary books:
